Blending hip hop with African soul on jazzy blue notes, South African-born singer Khethukubonga “Khethi” Ntshangase “afrosouljazz” sound brings to mind the soul styling's of jazz and soul connoisseurs. Khethi exemplifies African Evolution. She was aptly born on Africa Day, 25 May 1980 in the city of Pietermaritzburg, KZN. Inspired by soulful Jazz Blues giants like Miriam Makeba, Sibongile Khumalo and Nina Simone, Khethi has crossed borders on the wings of her music.Prior to her debut release last year she headlined at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, in August to great reviews. She also headlined at the Lake of Stars festival in Malawi, representing her country for the second time at this world famous festival. Last year September she gave a sterling performance at the National State Theatre.
